Wind Turbine Warning Overlay

Overview

Wind turbines can provide a challenge to drone pilots attempting to create safe and effective flight plans. In order to ease this burden, FieldAgent Mobile now includes the Wind Turbine Warning Overlay.


When planning a flight or looking at a saved field, you will see wind turbines in and near the area of flight operations. Each turbine has a circle with a 600 foot (182.88 meter) radius surrounding it. The application will not prevent planning a flight through the area, but gives pilots a visual guide for planning a flight that avoids entering the potentially dangerous areas around turbines.

      

Enabling/Disabling Wind Turbine Warning Overlay

  1. In Flight Planning, select the stack menu.

      

      2. Scroll down to “Wind Turbines” under “Infrastructure” and toggle it on to enable to map display.
      

Caveats

  • This feature requires an active internet connection.

  • While Sentera endeavors to provide the most up to date wind turbine data, wind energy is a fast growing industry. Survey your area of operations before flying. As the pilot in command, it is your responsibility to always be aware of your surroundings when flying a UAV.
