DJI Matrice drones use a specific type of connection, known as a Skyport, to connect to Sentera Sensors. This article will cover the differences between Skyport versions, identify which Sentera sensors are compatible with what DJI Matrice drones, and provide step-by-step guidance into how to update firmware.
There are two versions of Skyports: V1 and V2. A Sentera gimbal is identified as Skyport V2 if it has a white “SKYPORT V2” marking on the back of the gimbal as shown below. If this marker is not present, the gimbal is Skyport V1.
Most drones are only able to use one version of Skyport, as shown in the table below. Skyport V1 and Skyport V2 have distinct hardware differences, which are not changeable by the user. A significant part of the gimbal must be changed to transition between Skyport V1 and Skyport V2.
Skyport Firmware can be changed in the DJI Assistant 2 application. DJI Assistant 2 For Matrice drones can be downloaded at this link:
1. Connect your Sentera Skyport Sensor to your drone.
2. Connect White USB A to USB A cable (included with vehicle) to the back of the M200V1/M210V1
3. Connect the other end of the USB A cable to your computer and Launch DJI Assistant 2 for Matrice. If the following screen appears, slide the switch next to the USB cable to the left
4. Select Matrice 200 Series
5. In the menu on the left click “SKYPORT”. Then click “Upgrade” on the desired firmware version. There is no ability to downgrade firmware as it will error out.

2. Connect either USB-C to USB-C cable or USB-C to USB-A cable to the M300RTK USB-C port on the top of the drone.
3. Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer and launch DJI Assistant 2 for Matrice
4. Select Matrice 300RTK
5. Select “Firmware Update” on the left and then the “DJI Skyport” tab. Update Skyport V2 firmware as desired.
For M200V1 payloads, the user MUST have Skyport V1 AND Skyport V1 FW of 01.03.0009 for their system to work. If your Skyport sensor has a newer firmware version, a M200V2 drone is required to downgrade the Skyport V1 firmware. Sentera can assist in downgrading firmware if you do not have the capability to do so.
M300RTK fully supports DJI Skyport Version 2, while partially supporting DJI Skyport V1. There is an inability to update Skyport V1 firmware.
